LORDOSIS
Lordosis is the normal inward lordotic curvature of the lumbar and cervical regions of the human spine. The normal outward (convex) curvature in the thoracic and sacral regions is termed kyphosis or kyphotic. The term comes from the Greek lordōsis, from lordos ("bent backward").
HOW IS LORDOSIS DIAGNOSED ?
To diagnose lordosis, a doctor may take the patient's medical history and perform a physical examination. During the examination, the patient will be asked to bend forward and to the side to see whether the curve is flexible or fixed, how much range of motion the patient has and if the spine is aligned properly.
WHERE DOES LORDOSIS OCCURS ?
From the side, the spine normally curves at the neck, the torso and the lower back area. Lordosis is the inward curvature of a portion of the lumbar (lower back) and cervical (upper back) spine.
